Integrated Module 3: Natural, Accidental and Terrorist Disasters and Major Health Emergencies
The third module covers the specific competencies needed to prevent, forecast, quickly respond to and recover from clinical-surgical emergencies caused by unconventional events. It also addresses the most effective methods and competencies for managing Major Health Emergencies caused by unconventional events and CBRNe (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear events,) Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). The frontal (lecture-style) teaching activities cover a wide academic curriculum accounting for a total 104 hours frontal instruction amounting to 14 ECTS.
The course will be integrated with specific seminars (providing further credits) organized by academic lecturers or persons expert in the topics taught, Collective and Individual Training (only for participants with a master’s degree in Medicine or a similar field), in health institutions, under the guidance of highly-qualified tutors with long experience. The module will also focus on Risk Assessment/Management, Research Projects, and Medicine and Surgery at a Distance, namely Telemedicine.
